Materials

Published literary and ‘verbal’ works in the collections of the Slovak National Library, especially books, magazines and newspapers. The categorisation of works is organised according to the agreement with LITA, which includes various literary categories like original Slovak and foreign fiction, scientific literature, illustrated books, comics, spiritual literature, etc.

It includes photographic works and works of fine art that are part of the literary or ‘verbal’ works or connected to them, as well as works of art in the form of postcards and cartographic works.

Uses authorised

Reproduction (digital copy) for the purpose of making it available online.

Making the digital copy available to the public, exclusively through the web interface of the Slovak National Digital Library.

The number of reproductions is unlimited.

Duration in time

Fixed period, namely for the period from 1.1.2023 to 31.12.2023. Automatically extended to another year if none of the parties terminate the agreement. 

Geographical coverage

The entire territory of the Slovak Republic, and the territory of the European Economic Area.

Fees 

200.000 EUR lump sum (per calendar year) - increased to 240.000 EUR

Additional conditions to be respected by the CHI

  • The National Library can only give full access to the digital reproduction to users registered to their digital platform. Non-registered users can only see a preview. Users shall not be entitled to any modifications or interventions in the content nor to download it. If necessary, this should be limited using appropriate and effective technological measures.

  • The National Library has to provide a summary report on the use of out of commerce works on a monthly basis, including an identification of the work viewed by users, the date and time of each individual viewing, and an identification of the users.

  • The National Library is responsible for making the out of commerce works determination

  • The National Library is responsible for declaring the out of commerce works in the EUIPO portal
