Relevant forums/platforms:

Outreach ideas

  • Dutch Design Week

  • KABK

  • TU Delft architecture undergrad? (3D)

  • Willem de Kooning?

  • IDEA: If those Reddit forums prohibit promotional posting, use them to find the other platforms people are on.

  • “Online Creative Residency” like what Beth is a mentor for, but for visual artists/designers

Links

  • Alba’s search webinar slide deck might be useful to help them with searching

    • Note: according to this slide deck, this academic researcher user group appears to be using very advanced search techniques, like boolean operators and APIs. This sets them apart from creative [researchers] - creatives need to use the search, but they might not have the skills or interest related to working with data that academics from [digital] humanities would have (unless they are creative coders or digital media artists for example - then they might).

Questions to ask them:

  1. What types of media do they use for their practice (input)

  2. What kind of licensing does it have?

  3. What types of media do they create? (output)

  4. Where do they share their work?

  5. Why is it important to them to share their work with the public?

  6. Which cultural heritage platforms do they use to find media? (Archival sites, etc)

  7. Is it important to their practice that they use heritage items? Why/why not?

  8. Which other platforms do they use? (Unsplash, etc.)

  9. What kinds of programs do they use? (Adobe, Affinity, etc.)

  10. What do they enjoy doing most?

  11. What are the biggest challenges in their current process?
