Guidelines for using the Events' templates
At the Europeana Initiative, we use horizontal banners to promote our events using Newsletters and Social Media posts. We have three main templates for events. Check out below which one is best suitable for your case.
Â
Please choose a picture in black and white (or in colour, but transformed into black and white), preferably reusing images from our previous events, available on Flickr.
We’re now using images from our previous events to promote networking and how our events are bringing people together. Previously, we used items from our Collections, however, most of them didn’t communicate the message of the event (e.g. Abstract paintings used in a banner about an event in photogrammetry technology).
Exceptions to this rule: If you feel that one item of Europeana’s collection portrays a key aspect of the event, feel free to suggest it to our design team. The important thing is to be aligned with your message (e.g. In Women’s History Month, we used an image of women working together to promote a GIF-making workshop).
Always use the Europeana Initiative logo, unless the event is created by one of our communities (e.g. Europeana Research, Europeana Education). All logos are available in our Canva Brand kit.
Add all relevant partner logos - be careful so they won’t be too close to the EU logo.
Contact the organisation’s Visual Web Designer to add the imagery in the diagonal shape - this isn’t done in Canva, but in a different software.
Contact the organisation’s Visual Web Designer to review the placement of logos and add the imagery.

Europeana Aggregator’s Forum:
Use a picture with no background on top of the decorative blue element (available on Canva)
The picture should be in black and white, preferably reusing images from our previous events, available on Flickr.
Always use the Europeana Aggregators' Forum logo, available in our Canva Brand kit.
Add all relevant partner logos - be careful so they won’t be too close to the EU logo.
Contact the organisation’s Visual Web Designer to review the placement of logos and imagery.
Â
Choose a picture in black and white (or in colour, but transformed into black and white) that relates to the country where the Presidency will take place.
Always use the Europeana Initiative logo. This is available in our Canva Brand kit.
Contact the organisation’s Visual Web Designer to add the imagery in the diagonal shape - this isn’t done in Canva, but in a different software.
Contact the organisation’s Visual Web Designer to review the placement of logos and add the imagery.
Guidelines for using the Certificate Template
At the Europeana Initiative, we distinguish between event certificates and the Europeana Network Association’s (ENA) certificates. Events are personalised, while the ENA ana Academy ones are fixed. If you need a certificate for an event, please get in touch with the organisation’s Visual Web Designer.
You can change the name of the person who will receive the certificate and change the text accordingly. Find the template in our Canva brand templates.

Guidelines for using the Social Media’s templates
At the Europeana Initiative, we have various templates for our Social Media accounts, from X to Facebook, from LinkedIn to Pinterest. You can check the available designs in this Canva folder.
If you need any Social Media posts please get in touch with the organisation’s Senior Adviser Online Marketing & Events or the Marketing Specialist.
